Before applying to a program, you should also do some studying. You should check the IRCC’s list of recognized learning institutions to make sure your preferred post-secondary institution is included (DLI). A DLI is a facility that has been given official government permission to accept foreign students.
Additionally, you should be sure to apply to a program and DLI that can make you eligible for a PGWP if you wish to receive one after finishing your studies. The IRCC’s website also has this information available.
Apply to the educational institutions when you have created a short list.
Step 2: Get a Letter of Acceptance (LOA)
Once you have been granted permission by a Canadian DLI, you will be given a Letter of Acceptance (LOA). To submit your study permit application to IRCC, you must the LOA.
The LOA includes information like:
- Name, address, and telephone number of the DLI
- Your name, birthdate, and postal address
- The degree to which the program is being pursued, how long it will last, when it will begin, and when it is anticipated to end
- End of the LOA’s term

Quebec

The Student Direct Stream (SDS) is a fast-track study permit option available in Canada. Those who reside in any of the following nations may access the SDS:
- India
- China
- The Philippines
- Pakistan
- Vietnam
- Morocco
- Senegal
- Brazil
- Colombia
- Peru
- Antigua and Barbuda
- Costa Rica
- Trinidad and Tobago
- Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
You must submit your SDS application online, and the IRCC’s usual processing time for most SDS applications is 20 days.
Similar to a typical study permit application, the SDS’ qualifying requirements include some important extra requirements as well. They include obtaining a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 on each skill or, if sitting a French exam, the TEF equivalent of a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of at least 7 in each skill.
